Who Should Not Take Mounjaro?
Mounjaro is not suitable for everyone. Because it is a prescription-only medicine, a doctor reviews your full medical history and current medications before prescribing, to rule out conditions that make it unsafe.
Mounjaro is generally not prescribed to people who:

- Have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC)
- Have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2)
- Have had a serious allergic reaction to tirzepatide or any of its ingredients
- Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant
Tell your doctor first
A history of pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, severe gastrointestinal disease, diabetic retinopathy, or kidney problems needs to be assessed with particular caution. This is not a complete list — only a licensed doctor can confirm whether Mounjaro is safe for you.
